Eye pressure measurement
Measuring eye pressure is otherwise known as tonometry. Intraocular pressure in the eye depends on the ratio of the production of intraocular fluid of the eye (provides normal tension of the eyeball) to its outflow, determined by, among other things. Resistance in the outflow paths. The norm for blood pressure in healthy individuals is 16 to 20 mm Hg. It also depends on the thickness of the eye’s cornea. Over the course of a day, it can fluctuate by about 5 mm Hg. Measurement of eye pressure is the main preventive and diagnostic test for glaucoma – its elevated level is the most important factor in the development of this disease. It is a non-invasive and safe test.
