Slit-lamp examination
Slit-lamp examination, or biomicroscopy, is a basic test that allows an ophthalmologist to evaluate the structure of the eye’s structures. The slit lamp is equipped with a very powerful light source and a biomicroscope that magnifies the image and allows for spatial vision. The device also has built-in filters. Through the examination, the eyelids, conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, iris, lens, retina and anterior vitreous body can be thoroughly examined. Before the retinal examination, the pupils are usually dilated with appropriate drops.
